Course content
Periodization of Czech language development from the beginnings, Proto-Slavonic period, era of differenciation of Slavonic languages, Old Slavonic and Latin influences, up to first proves of Czech language in Old Slavonic and Latin texts. Chosen aspects from individual Slavonic languages and Old Slavonic culture will be delt with via on-line materials. Analysis of Old Slavonic and Old Czech texts will be provided during the seminars.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course students should be able to: - language analysis of Old Slavonic and Old Bohemian texts, - to describe the basic cultural and historical context of the historical development of the Czech language from the earliest period to the beginning of Czech as a written language, - Define and clarify the basic system of Praslovian, Old Slavonic, Prache and Old Bohemian language changes on individual levels of the Czech language.
