Collectors and editors of folk literature in the European and non-European context (Grimms, Afanasyev, Perrault, etc.) Fairy tales and legends in world literature for children - adaptation approaches, cultural frameworks Myths and legends as inspiration for literary work for children Development and typology of the author's fairy tale (e.g. Andersen, Wilde, Kipling, Sendak) Poetry for children in translations - cultural transfer, rhythmic and semantic aspects Significant representatives of world literature for children of the 19th-20th centuries The influence of national traditions on the style, form and theme of literature for children Transcultural reading and interpretation of classical and modern works

Learning outcomes |
The course focuses on the historical development, thematic areas and aesthetic qualities of world literature for children and young people. Emphasis is placed on folklore tradition, authorial fairy tales and poetry in a transnational context. Students will gain an orientation in key texts, authors and genre forms of world children's literature and will acquire methods of analysis and interpretation of selected works in cultural and historical contexts.
After completing the course, the student will: characterize the development of authorial fairy tales and poetry in an international context; understand the functions and transformations of folk literature in children's literature; interpret an artistic text with regard to the contemporary and cultural context; distinguish the basic genre and typological features of world children's literature; apply methods of literary analysis and critical reading to selected works; be familiar with professional literature and contemporary theoretical reflection. |

Assessment methods and criteria |
Written exam, Student performance, Seminar Work
active participation in consultations and online activities (e.g. MS Teams), preparation and presentation of an annotation of a selected work (oral or written), final verification of knowledge in the form of a seminar paper or test according to the teacher's instructions. Requirements for students with ISP: The student will submit a two-page annotation of a professional publication published after 2022, which is dedicated to contemporary world literature for children and young people. |
