Course content
The seminars focus on practice of a comprehensive analysis of a sentence and compound sentence (constituents and their relationships, relationships between sentences in compound sentences, false subordinate sentences) - applying both traditional and primarily valence syntax.

Learning outcomes
Sentence, utterance, discourse. Utterance structure and its functions. Text, textuality, syntactic complexes. Comprehensive linguistic analyses. Scope of syntax, sentence and utterance, communicative function, basic clause structure, functional sentence perspective, irregularities in sentence structure; Syntagma, syntagmatic and paradigmatic relations within sentences, means and aids of their expression, complex noun phrase; predicate and its types, predicate clause;Subject, one-element structures, subject clause;Object. Object clause;Adverbial and its classification, adverbial clause;Attributes and attribute clause; Complements and complement clause; Complex and compound sentence; Text analysis; Application of syntax in teaching Czech at lower secondary school.
