Course content
The discipline gives students a historical overview on ways of pondering about? Arts?, with an emphasis on the Western debate from the 18th century to the present. Students will understand how the different approaches were motivated by personal and group interests, such as professional (artists, art historians, the so-called cultural elite) or political (patronage representatives of private individuals or state power). They will learn about current trends of the theoretical debate (critical theory, post-colonialism, neuroaesthetics ), as well as selected discussion topics: definition of art, the quality of art, high vs. low art, professional vs. folk art, art functions, etc. Basic topics: 1. Expert debate about art, disciplines (art theory, aesthetics, art history)? system and terminology 2. Expert historical discussion based on art from antiquity to the 20th century 3. Critical Theory 4. Art in the unified science 5. Theory of Art and layman?s debate about art

Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students should be able to: - Describe historical approaches to art - Evaluate the impact of contemporary personal and group interests on the debate about art - Explain the current trends of theoretical debates about art - Discuss topics such as the definition of art, its quality, function, etc. - Take an active stance on these issues and argue in favor of their opinion
After completing the course, students should be able to understand historical approaches to art and to apply them in their own of educational activities.

Interest in the field, active approach to tasks.
