Course content
Topics: - Characteristics of the theme Education of a democratic citizen. - Citizen, civil society and school. - Principles of democracy as a form of government and decision-making. - Citizen, civil society and state - rules, laws, constitution. - Forms of citizens' participation in political life - elections, citizens and their community, social organizations and movements. - Authority, power, justice, responsibility. Ways of applying democratic principles and values in school life - student self-government and student parliament, code of rights and duties of children, open school.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic Lecture(Interpretation, Training), Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)

Learning outcomes
The seminar is focused on the development of civic literacy, on the development of critical thinking, on value orientation, on the creation of civic consciousness and on ways of solving conflicts and problems with accentuation to the respective FEP and the issue.
At the end of the course students should be able to: - define the basic terminology of democratic citizenship, - clarify the importance of civil society in a democratic society, - explain the nature of civil society, - to clarify the role, function and examples of the application of democratic principles in the educational environment, - list concrete examples of active and functional civic associations, resp. activities, - assess the potential impact of individual activities on society, critically and in connection with the background and information.
Prerequisites
The prerequisite is the orientation of students in the literature and knowledge of basal terminology.

written work - creation of seminar paper, self-study - preparation for credit.
