Course content
Characteristics of the theme of Democratic Citizenship. Citizen, civil society. Democratic principles as forms of government and decision-making. The citizen, civil society and the state - the rules, laws and constitution. Forms of citizen participationin political life - elections, citizen and community, social organizations and movements. Authority, power, justice, responsibility. Ways in which they are applied democratic principles and values in the life of the school - student government and student parliament, code of rights and duties of the child, the school is open.

Dialogic Lecture (Discussion, Dialog, Brainstorming), Activating (Simulations, Games, Dramatization)

Learning outcomes
The seminar is aimed at developing civic literacy, the development of critical thinking on the value orientation, on a creation of civic consciousness and ways of solving conflicts and problems with emphasis on relevant RVP and the issue. After completing the course, students should be able to: "Define the basic terminology, "To clarify the importance of civil society in a democratic society, "Explain the essence of civil society, "Clarify the role, function and examples of application of democratic principles in the educational environment, "Enumerate specific examples of active and functional civic associations, respectively. Activities "Assess the potential impact of activities at the company.

Assessment methods and criteria
Analyssis of the Student's Portfolio

During contact teaching students learn the basic theoretical concepts and examples of how civil society. Subsequently, work up essays in which specific examples from practice illustrates the importance and essence of a functioning civil society in the Czech Republic and abroad.
