Course content
Contents The concept of constitutional law, formation and concept of the Constitution of the Czech Republic, constitutional law sources, constitutional order The basic provisions of the constitution, the relation between the international and national law, referendum, citizenship The constitutional fundamentals of the EU, the relation between the international and national law Judicial power, administrative judiciary, the right to judicial and other protection The President of the Republic The Executive, the Government, ministries, the position of the public prosecution, Supreme Audit Office, Czech National Bank The Legislative Branch, bicameralism, MPs' legal position Constitutional judiciary Elections The Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms, general provisions Political rights Personal freedoms

Learning outcomes
The aim of this subject is to introduce the students to the constitutional fundamentals of organization and functioning of the state (the Czech Republic), the sources of constitutional law, the internal state organization, constitutional enshrinement, powers and mutual relations of supreme state authorities, the horizontal and vertical division of power, representative and direct democracy, the relations between the Czech Republic and other states, the relations between the Czech Republic and the international community and the problems of emergencies. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
Students who have completed this subject will gain knowledge and skills concerning the description and analysis of the fundamental constitutional concepts and institutes as well as the functioning of the state mechanism of the Czech Republic.
Prerequisites
Completion of this subject is not conditional upon completion of another subject.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark

In order to get the credit it is essential that the students should attend the seminars, complete the tasks assigned by the seminar leader and be successful at the written test. Those who would like to take the exam must first get the credit. The student is required to work with the learning objects, which have been created for the concrete subject and are available for authorized students in LMS EDIS.
