Course content
Contents (lecture and seminar topics): The subject of Constitutional Law, creation and conception of the Constitution of the Czech Republic, the sources of Constitutional Law, constitutional order The basic constitutional provision, relation between international and national/domestic law, referendum, citizenship Constitutional fundamentals of the EU, relation between international and domestic law Judicial power, administrative judiciary, the right to judicial and other protection The President of the Republic The Executive, The Government, ministries, the position of the prosecutor, Supreme Audit Office, Czech National Bank The Legislative Branch, bicameralism, the MPs' legal position The Constitutional judiciary Elections The Declaration of Human Rights, general provisions Political rights Personal freedom

Learning outcomes
The aim of this subject is to introduce the students to the constitutional fundamentals of the organization and functioning of the state (The Czech Republic), sources of the Constitutional Law, internal organization of the state, constitutional enshrinement, powers and mutual relations among the supreme authorities, the horizontal and vertical division of power, representative and direct democracy, the relations between the Czech Republic and other states as well as the relations between the Czech Republic and international community and finally the problems of emergency. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
The students who have completed this subject will gain the knowledge and skills concerning the description and analysis of the basic constitutional terms and institutes as well as the functioning of the state mechanism of the Czech Republic.
Prerequisites
Completion of this subject is conditional upon the successful completion of the subject called Political Science.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark

The students who would like to gain the credit must have regular seminar attendance, they have to complete the tasks assigned by the seminar leader and they must be successful at the written test. Those who would like to take the exam must first get the credit. The student is required to work with the learning objects, which have been created for the concrete subject and are available for authorized students in LMS EDIS.
