Course content
1. Introduction to legal issues concerning the status and activities of political parties 2. Introduction to the theory of political parties (definition and function of political parties and movements) 3. Theoretical concepts of legal regulation (militant democracy) 4. Historical development of the political parties 5. Current legal status of political parties I. 6. Legislation in force on the status of political parties II. 7. Models of Party Legislation 8. Suspension of political party activity, cancellation and extinction of political parties 9. Models of financing political parties 10. Control of the funding of political parties (two lectures by members of the Czech and Slovak political party oversight authorities)

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the legal status of political parties in the Czech, European and non-European legal systems. The subject will focus on the content of legislation dealing with political parties and movements, practical application, models of party legislation, financing of political parties and the functioning of the Office for the Surveillance of the Economic Policy of the Parties.
Students will be able to understand the functioning of party legislation in political practice, apply theory for specific situations in political practice.
