Learning outcomes
The course is a basic subject forming the third pillar of the study programme, focusing on the development of professional skills and general competences of the student, specifically on the student's ability to present the acquired knowledge and skills in a scientific text and in a professional scientific forum. The course is designed as a four-semester course, with the demands on student performance in the course increasing as the semesters progress. The course builds primarily on the philosophical-methodological foundations of law and scientific propedeutics and is designed for students majoring in Legal History and Roman Law. The second semester is already fully focused on the student's ability to present the results of his/her scientific research at a scientific conference. During the semester, the student is obliged to choose a topic for his/her scientific paper in cooperation with his/her supervisor (identify the problem to be solved) and prepare this scientific paper in such a way that it is eligible for presentation at a scientific conference (ability to present the solution found to the chosen problem). Active participation in the conference includes writing the paper and publishing it in the conference proceedings or in another form with regard to the conference output (article in a thematically focused journal issue). In the case that the conference proceedings will not be prepared, this obligation may exceptionally be waived in agreement with the supervisor. At the same time, the student will continue to prepare his/her dissertation during this semester. In order to successfully complete the course, the student is required to prepare and submit to the supervisor a detailed dissertation thesis of at least 10 standard pages.
The student's ability to present the acquired knowledge and skills in a scientific text and at a professional scientific forum.
