In this subject the students learn the most important Latin legal expressions, which are necessary for understanding of the Latin terminology contained in all branches of legal writing. These expressions are important for the practice of law not only in our country but all over Europe. Special attention is drawn to the Latin expressions, borrowings from Latin as well as legal phrases so that the students can pass examinations in other subjects (Roman Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law etc.) and that they understand the technical Latin terms while practicing law.
The aim of this course is to teach the students the elementary Latin grammar used in legal texts and introduce them into the most important Latin legal terms, word expressions and statements, which appear in the legal practice most often. Students will gain the basic knowledge of legal Latin, sufficient for working with simple texts in Latin and allowing them to deduce the meaning of Latin legal terminology.
