Course content
The course will first focus on the general doctrine of the sacraments, with the goal of placing the concept of Christian sacraments within the broader framework of the sacramentality of the world, Christ, the Church, and within the context of Christian anthropology. The seven sacraments will then be discussed individually, beginning with the sacraments of Christian initiation, through the sacraments of healing, to the sacraments of service to the Christian community. In explaining the material, theological reflection on each topic will be based on Trinitarian biblical Revelation, will include significant stages in the history of the dogma, and will present the current teaching of the Magisterium of the Catholic Church. The ecumenical and pastoral aspects of the subject will also be taken into account. Individual topics: - General doctrine of the sacraments - The sacraments of initiation: baptism, confirmation, eucharist - Sacrament of Penance - Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick - Sacrament of Holy Orders - Sacrament of Matrimony The subject does not have any support.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is an introduction to Sacramental Theology, which consists in a comprehensive presentation of Catholic doctrine on the sacraments.
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: - summarize and explain the basics of Catholic doctrine on the sacraments; - organically integrate the perspectives of Scripture, Tradition, and Church teaching in looking at the various topics of the course; - find the connections of each topic to the Trinitarian and Christological core of the Christian faith; - identify the main lines of Catholic doctrine on the sacraments with regard to their ecumenical dimension; - Summarize, critically assess and evaluate selected issues in sacramental theology in the light of the Church's teaching after the Second Vatican Council; - grasp anew the relevance of dogmatic-theological reflection on the sacraments for one's own theological synthesis and spiritual life; - draw conclusions from the doctrine of the sacraments and of the Church for pastoral discernment and practice.
Prerequisites
Students should be able to: - read and analyze academic texts carefully; - interpret them and draw conclusions from them; - schematize theoretical conclusions from academic texts so that, based on reading and analyzing various authors, they arrive at a comprehensive thematic synthesis. The course method is based on the assumption that students will accept the diversity of study literature as enriching, even from a confessional perspective. The course will not be limited to a single monograph, but will allow for the comparison of different approaches and thus a deeper understanding of the material. Therefore, an important prerequisite for the course is the student's creative openness to this methodology and willingness to actively engage with diverse texts.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

To successfully complete the course, students must: - read and study all the basic literature (a detailed list of which will be provided to students in the introductory lecture); - active participation in the dialogical-didactic teaching process (i.e., the seminar method of teaching, which requires preparation for each class by reading a selected text assigned by the instructor), during which certain texts, especially from the required reading list, will be analyzed and discussed together; - it is also necessary to pass an oral exam.
