Course content
|
01. The topic of crime - basic vocabulary, introductory text. 02. Exercising the vocabulary - expressions, collocations, typical sentences, automation, consecutive interpreting, interpreting of written text. 03. Working with texts: exercises, automated texts, short announcements. Consecutive interpreting. 04. Consecutive interpreting. Condensation of a text, interpreting of written text and transformations. 05. Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting - crime, prepared and new texts. 06. Social problems - contemporary text and main vocabulary. 07. Social problems and crime - automation of expressions, interpreting form a written text, consecutive interpreting. 08. Mock-conference - on a selected topic. 09. The topic of justice - presentation of vocabulary and realia, a short text. 10. Vocabulary exercices - automatization, precision of expression, text analysis. 11. Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting - justice, text analysis (compression, prognosis, interpreting from Czech to Russian). 12. Summing up - mock-conference in a recording studio.

Learning outcomes
|
The already acquired interpreting skills (consecutive and simultaneous interpreting, sight translation) are applied to the topic of Criminality. Justice. Social problems. The aim of this course is not only to get familiar with the topic, vocabulary, fixed expressions and realia, but, more importantly, to train and practice interpreting skills and treatment of a text (comprehension, selecting the dominant information, reproduction and re-stylisation). We shall gradually focus more and more on simultaneous interpreting and active interpreting.
Students will acquire the ability to use their general skills to work with Russian and Czech language in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting on the topic of crime and judiciary system.

Prerequisites
|
Practical knowledge of Russian corresponding to at least B2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Knowledge of interpreting methods acquired, for instance, in the KSR/7TRP1/2 courses.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Analysis of linguistic
attendance, max. 2 absences marked recordings of interpreting performance participation in a mock-conference dealing with the topic recording in a AV studio
