Course content
01. The topic of housing. Vocabulary, introductory text. 02. Exercising the vocabulary - collocations, pattern sentences, automation, consecutive interpreting, interpreting a written text. 03. Working with a text - stereotyped texts (real-estate agencies, housing administration, privatization.) Consecutive interpreting. 04. Consecutive interpreting. Housing administration - services, fees, prizes. 05. Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting - housing administration and housing policy, buildings. 06. Summing up the topic of housing - consecutive and simultaneous interpreting of contemporary texts. 07. The topic of social care and social policy - main concepts, phrases, contemporary text. 08. Exercising the vocabulary - collocations, pattern sentences, automation, consecutive interpreting and interpreting of written text. 09. Social welfare - allowances, benefits etc. - key terms, contemporary text, consecutive interpreting. 10. Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting - guaranteed minimum income and unemployment. 11. Consecutive and simultaneous interpreting - help in emergency situation, homeless people, asylum, refugees. Text. 12. Summing up the topic of social welfare - fundamental aspects, key texts and new texts.

Learning outcomes
The already acquired knowledge of interpreting methods (consecutive and simultaneous interpreting and interpreting from written text) is applied to the topic of Housing. Social care. Social policy. The aim of this course is not only to get familiar with this topic, its vocabulary, expressions and realia (e.g. reality-estate agencies, unemployment, social allowances), but mosly to train and practice interpreting skills and work with both spoken and written text (understanding the text, selecting the dominant information, reproduction and restylisation). We shall gradually focus more and more on simultanous interpreting and active interpreting thus dealing gradually always with more difficult tasks within one topic.
Students will acquire the ability to use their general skills to work with Russian and Czech language in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting on the topic of housing and social policy.
Prerequisites
Practical knowledge of Russian corresponding to at least B2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Knowledge of interpreting methods acquired for instance during the KSR/7TP1 course.
