Course content

The topic of housing and the housing problems. 13. The topic of organs, administrations and institutes of social care.

Learning outcomes
This course follows the course Translation Seminar 1 and is further developing the ability to analyze a specialized text and to interpret it as well as to translate it. Students will get familiar with the practical application of translatological methods and transformations which they know from their theoretical translatological disciplines. We shall work both with texts specially designed by our lecturers for this type of course and with contemporary texts from Russian or Czech journals, newspapers or internet sources as well as with documentaries.
In this part of the cycle of translation seminar the students will acquire the terminology connected to the topic of social sphere. They shall also deepen their ability to analyse, interpret and translate original unabridged texts.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Russian grammar as required by the curriculum, understanding the basic problematic of translation, translatological methods and transformations.

Written exam

Attendance, max. 2 absences Creating a thematic glossary with the terminology and vocabulary mentioned during the seminar Submitting a 2-page translation from Czech to Russian and a 2-page translation in the opposite direction together with a glossary of key terms Passing the credit test
