Course content
Constitution, parliament, election. State visits, negotiation, agreements. International relationships. European Union. 1. ? 12. The structure of the lessons is as follows: translating the articles from the book or from specialized journals or internet. Students can use various types of dictionaries and thus create their professional habits for translation such texts. 13. Credit test.

Learning outcomes
This course is further developing the knowledge of language and is focused on creating the ability to analyze text (especially journalistic or administrative text), to understand the dominant information and to translate it from one language to another. The translation methods are applied to topic of politics, and thus the students will get familiar with the terminology and vocabulary of this field. Students are asked to learn the vocabulary and to know it actively and also to prepare at home their translations which we shall discuss at the seminars in order to select the best solutions of problematic parts.
Students will acquire vocabulary and terminology connected to the topic of politics and the ability to translate texts on this topic in both directions.
Prerequisites
A practical knowledge of Russian, at least A2 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages, knowledge of Czech language, at least C1 level of the European Framework of Reference for Languages, knowledge of Russian grammar as required by the curriculum and knowledge of Russian culture and realia.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work, Written exam

- Attendance, max. 2 absences - Passing the credit test (translation of terms and articles in both directions) - Submitting a paper on a selected translatological issue - Submitting a 1-page translation from Czech to Russian and a 1-page translation in the opposite direction.
