Course content
01. Administrative style. The language of contracts. 02. - 03. Contract. Purchase prize, goods, prize total. 04. - 05. Contract - delivery terms. 06. Contract - sanctions, payment conditions. 07. Contract - tests, probation. 08. Contract - packing and marking. 09. Contract - vis maior, arbitration. 10. Contract - insurance, general contract clauses. 11. Contract - translation from Czech to Russian. 12. Contract - translation from Czech to Russian.

Learning outcomes
This course is designed for students who study Business Russian and it further develops the principles of text production in administrative style (business letter ? letter of order, letter of complaint, urgency, correspondence connected to contract negotiation). We shall also focus on other genres of administrative specialized style ? the contract, especially contract of sale and travel contract. Students will get familiar with the basic linguistic, stylistic and formal attributes of these documents and will be able to understand the terminology connected to the factual aspect of business correspondence. We shall mostly concentrate on developing the ability to translate contract from Russian to Czech.
Obtaining habits for translating international contracts of sale from Russian to Czech and vice versa.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of Russian on the level B1 of the European Framework of Reference for Languages. Awareness of basic principles of writing and translation business letters in Russian and Czech.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam
