Course content
The main representatives of Postmodernism in the Polish literature and culture and in other Euopean cultures. 1. Wilhelm Mach (Góry nad czarnym morzem). 2. Włodzimierz Odojewski. 3. Pokolenie brulionu. 4. Leopold Buczkowski. 5. Jerzy Andrzejewski (Miazga). 6. Manuela Gretkowska. 7. Russian literature characteristics - Eduard Limonow, Moscow Conceptualism (Dimitrij Prigow, Wsiewołod Niekrasow). 8. Ukrain: the production of Bu-Ba-Bu group is well known. 9. Sweden: Bunch in Malmö. 10 Italy: Umberto Eco (Imię róży, Wahadło Foucaulta, Wyspa dnia poprzedniego). 11. Great Britain: Flann O'Brien, John Fowles, Julian Barnes, Salman Rushdie. 12. Germany: Günter Grass, Christa Wolf. 13. Czech republic: Milan Kundera, Daniela Hodrová (trilogy Miasto utrapienia), Jiří Kratochvil.

Learning outcomes
The European Modernism corresponds to the term of Postmodernism which started in the 1960s and it still continues. This course will provide, throught the literary work of selcted authors, the poetics development of national literatures as part of European literary production.
The students will acquire competences as stated in the syllabus.
Prerequisites
To be able to use the study literatury in Czech and Polish languages, the basic knowledge of world literature.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam

- Regular and active attendance - two absences are permitted. - Fulfilment of all partial assessment tasks during the semester. - Final report on a selcted topic.
