Course content
1. Introduction; 2. Hinduism I; 3. Hinduism II; 4. Buddhism I; 5. Buddhismus II; 6. Confucianism; 7. Taoism; 8. Shinto; 9. Sikkhism; 10. Final discussion, review.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course consists in providing basic knowledge of Asian religious traditions. The course provides the overview of the historical development and contemporary forms of Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism and Shinto.
After the successful completion of the course students are able to demonstrate the knowledge of the history of selected religious traditions; describe the characteristics of selected religious traditions; define the basic approaches of social sciences toward studying selected religious traditions; evaluate the importance of selected religious traditions for the cultural history of Asia.

Student performance, Seminar Work

Students are required to attend the lectures of the course, participate on discussions, study the assigned readings, submit the final essay.
