Learning outcomes
The course focuses on the theoretical mastering of quantitative research strategy. The course explains the logic of quantitative research and the basic difference (epistemological, ontological, the theory and research relation) from quantitative research. Attention is paid to various research designs as well as qualitative research quality criteria. The course aims to prepare the research proposal. In lectures, key terms and contexts are explained and demonstrated on examples of specific research.
Learning outcomes of the course unit The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge in the field of sociological research methods, to understand the quantitative research strategy and the ways of its use. Students will be able to apply the acquired knowledge in a suitable field (to formulate a research question, to prepare a research plan, to choose a research design, to find and to elaborate relevant literature, to take into account the ethical and practical consequences of the research) and to evaluate at the basic level the advantages and weaknesses of the proposed research in terms of its quality criterion (validity, reliability).
