Course content
1. Concepts and approaches in biographical method; 2. Prior to interview: The preparing for collecting the biographical materials; 3. Interview: The beginning with the biographical research - contact management, and the phases of the research process; 4. After the Interview: The ways of working the biographical materials. Indexing, comparison, typology, and the ways of presentation. 5.-6. Realisation of the research project; 7-12. The presentation of the research project.

Learning outcomes
Biographical method is a methodological approach that enables to understand the social environment of people, in which they live, through their individual perspectives understood as unique and at the same time intersubjectively shared. This course is an introduction to research methods and techniques, through which can be individual experience record, analyze and interpret. The aim of the course is to help students to understand the relationship between research plan, data collection and analysis so that they are able to distinguish between strengths and weaknesses of this methodological approach. The course is thematically set up to simulate the phase of the research project. Through a series of five thematic lectures, students will learn basic skills and theoretical assumptions of the methodology to be successfully applied in their research projects. An essential part of the course is cooperation within the research team.
After successful completion of the course the student will be able: demonstrate knowledge of biographical approaches to research in the social sciences; understand interrelationships among the research aims, data collections, and problems of their analysis; orient in the stages of the research process; realize biographical interview; analyze data emerging from talks.-
