The aim of this course is to introduce students to the basic aspects of Spanish academic and formal texts, not only on a theoretical level but also in practice. We will focus on the grammatical, stylistic, and syntactic levels of the language, on communicative and argumentative strategies in formal discourse, on textual coherence and cohesion, and on the comprehension of highly formal and academic texts. We will also address the creation of presentations and formal spoken speeches delivered to an audience.
The student understands the basic features of Spanish academic style and is able to analyse formal texts in terms of structure, coherence, and linguistic means. They can produce simple academic and formal texts, use basic argumentative and communicative strategies, and prepare a structured oral presentation or spoken formal discourse. |
