Course content
In the course, students are introduced to the principles of ethics and methodology in interpreting and to the basics of interpreting practice. This includes interpreter notation and simple consecutive interpretation from Spanish into Czech in the thematic areas of foreign trade and tourism. The consolidation of interpreting skills is supported by memory exercises, training in rhetorical abilities, team-building, and the development of self-reflection and self-assessment. Students work either individually at their own recording stations interpreting assigned recordings, or they present their own texts and interpret individually in front of the entire group.

Learning outcomes

Basic skills in interpreter notation and simple consecutive interpretation from Spanish into Czech in the thematic areas of foreign trade and tourism.

Spanish language knowledge.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Student performance, Analysis of linguistic, Systematic Observation of Student

Regular attendance and active participation in seminars. Interpreting preparation for each class. Creation of a glossary. Preparation of two short presentations for interpreting practice.
