The course provides students with an introduction to stylistics as a linguistic discipline, including its key concepts (functional style, style-forming factors, genre, register, etc.) and major approaches (Czech stylistics grounded in the tradition of the Prague Linguistic Circle, more recent approaches based on the work of Hausenblas and his followers, Halliday, Adams, etc.). Students will also gain knowledge of the main functional styles and genres of contemporary Spanish, together with their lexical, morphosyntactic, and pragmatic features. In addition, they will learn to analyse Spanish texts from a stylistic perspective.
