Course content
1. Spanish used in America. Historical overview. 2. The main distinctive features of Spanish used in America and its origin (pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary). 3. Influences on the Spanish in America (European Spanish, Indian and African languages, English, Italian, Portuguese, French, German). 4. Problem of dialect zones. Summary of the most important theories. (Pedro Henríquez Ure?a, José Pedro Rona, Melvyn Resnick, Orlando Alba). 5. The concept of Americanism (argentinism, cubanism, columbianism, chilenism, mexicanism, peruanism, etc.). 6. Dictionaries dedicated to American Spanish.

Learning outcomes
Basic knowlidges of fonetic, grammatical and lexical units of the Spanish language spoken in Latin America. Special attention will be paid to the elaboration of a limited part of the Spanish-Czech Dictionary of Americanisms.
Knowledges of Spanish of Latin America (Phonetics, Grammar, Lexicology).
