Course content
|
1. Methodology for writing papers, essays and theses. Types of scientific texts, types of research, types of excerpts. 2. Stages in preparation of the paper: choice of the topic, search for documentation (factual research, analytical and synthetic preparation phase), evaluation of sources, study and preparation of materials, preparation of outline and concept, editing concept and final redaction of the paper. 3. Quotation, paraphrase, plagiarism and copyright. 4. Spanish bibliographic standards and practices. Footnotes and list of references. 5. Presentation of the text (orthography and typography). The new rules of Spanish orthography. 6. Electronic information resources for Spanish philology. 7. Spanish lexicographic works. 8. Exercise: Use of information resources; frequent spelling and grammatical errors in Spanish; Spanish punctuation rules.

Learning outcomes
|
Learning basic methods of scientific work in the Humanities and of presentation of the results in the form of papers, essays or theses. Students will learn the basic rules concerning both content and formal aspects of such work; they will acquire rules for search for and work with sources, for citing primary and secondary sources, for referring to them in the bibliographic citations, with particular emphasis on the specifics of Spanish Philology, Spanish usage and orthographic and typographic rules in Spanish.
Students learn the rules for writing papers and diploma theses, citing primary and secondary sources and referring to them in bibliographic citations, particularly with regard to the Spanish usage.
