Course content
|
Translating literature. Application of theoretical knowledge to specific challenges and functional styles. Emphasis is placed on pragmatic linguistic phenomena and their translation into Czech. Contemporary Spanish-to-Czech translations are also analyzed in class. Students' creativity in Czech is developed through short exercises at the beginning of each session. Work includes the use of traditional dictionaries and online tools. Translation of journalistic, essayistic, literary, and technical texts. Final paper: 3-4 pages.

Learning outcomes
|
The course is intended for students who have already completed the course Theory of translation and Translation Exercises 1. The aim is to address issues in the translation of literary texts, apply theoretical knowledge to specific challenges, and select appropriate linguistic resources according to style and function.
