Course content
Through independent reading as well as discussion of both fictional and theoretical texts, students will become familiar with possible approaches to the creation and interpretation of literary works.

Learning outcomes
The course aims to introduce students to selected works of contemporary Hispano-American authors, with reference to the theoretical frameworks developed by major international writers and literary theorists. Students will engage with debates concerning the roles and possibilities of the author, the reader, the narrator, and the text itself, as well as with the dialogue among these agents in the processes of literary production and reception. Throughout the semester, students will work with literary texts as well as theoretical and experimental writings situated at the intersection of literary and extra-literary expression. Key authors studied in the course include Mario Bellatin, Guadalupe Nettel, and Lina Meruane.

The course is primarily intended for students of Spanish philology (including related specialisations).
