Course content
1. Introduction to Hispanic American Literature of the first half of the 20th century. 2. Modernism in Poetry and the Short Story. 3. The Fantastic Short Story 4. Regionalism. 5. Avant-garde Poetry

Learning outcomes
A comprehensive analysis of works of Hispanic American prose from the first half of the 20th century (realistic prose, influences of modernism, fantastic and experimental prose of the 1940s, the influence of myth in the 1950s), which precedes the boom of the 1960s. Theoretical knowledge acquired mainly in literary theory and in subjects devoted to Spanish and LA is applied. Texts are analyzed in terms of theme, plot, characters, imagination, language, style, etc. Students work on assigned topics based on their own studies and present them in written form.
Deepening knowledge of literary trends and interpretation of literary texts.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the history of Hispanic American literature.

Participation in lectures and seminars, reading assigned literary and theoretical texts.
