Course content
This is an introductory course for a three-semester course of Italian literary history. The course is in Czech and uses reading materials available in Czech (translated literary texts and literary criticism) Due to this limitation, it will be focused on Italian writers who were more successfully received in Czech culture: Dante Alighieri (Divine Comedy, De Vulgari Eloquentia, La Vita Nuova, lyrical works) Francesco Petrarca (lyrical works, My Secret, Latin letters) Giovanni Boccaccio (Decameron) Carlo Goldoni (The Mistress of the Inn, Brawling in Chioggia, The Holiday trilogy) Luigi Pirandello (short stories, The Late Mattia Pascal, Six Characters in Search of an Author) Alberto Moravia (Roman Tales, Agostino, Boredom)

Learning outcomes
This is an introductory course for a three-semester course of the history of Italian literature.
The student gains basic knowledge of the development of Italian literature.

Mark, Oral exam

Participation in lectures and seminars, reading the given literary and specialized texts, preparation for the exam, passing the exam.
