| Course content |

The subject of the course is Nanni Moretti's filmography, one of the authors who most characterized and influenced Italian film production in the last 40 years. The analysis of his best films leads to an understanding of the development of the author's cinematography, in which ideological and linguistic non-conformism overlaps in typologically very different solutions, with a bitter reflection on the current social and political context. The course mainly includes the following films: Bianca (1984) Caro diario (1993) La stanza del figlio (2001) Habemus Papam (2011) Santiago, Italia (2018). Each projection is followed by an analysis of the most important sequences, both in terms of thematic, style and film language. Critics and other studies will be used to interpret selected films. All materials will be available in moodle. The course ends with an oral interview verifying the knowledge and skills based on the content of the course.
