Course content
The concept of criminal law, the principles of criminal law. Competence of criminal law. The concept of crime, classification of crimes. Facts, the object of a crime. The objective side of a crime. The offender of a criminal offence. The subjective side of a crime. Circumstances excluding illegality. Stages of a crime. Complicity. Concurrence of crimes. The concept and the purpose of punishment.

Learning outcomes
In the course of the first term the students will become familiar with the substantive criminal law - the general part, which includes especially the fundamentals of criminal liability and the sanctioning of adult offenders. Special emphasis will be put on the conceptual issues of crime and the wrongdoing of minors, specific elements of a crime, circumstances excluding illegality, stages of a crime and the crime and criminal concurrence. Attention will also be focused on specific regulation contained in the justice act dealing with juvenile delinquency. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
Students who have completed this subject will gain knowledge necessary for correct defining of specific elements of crime and qualifying of criminal liability.
Prerequisites
Completion of this subject is not conditional upon completion of another subject.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

In order to get the credit the students must have a regular attendance in the scope set by the seminar leader and pass the written test in the substantive criminal law - general part. The student is required to work with the learning objects, which have been created for the concrete subject and are available for authorized students in LMS EDIS.
