Course content
The concept and the subject of criminal proceedings, preliminary questions. The basic principles of criminal proceedings I. The basic principles of criminal proceedings II. Subjects of criminal proceedings. Jurisdiction of criminal courts. The role of police organ and publice prosecutor. The accused, the defense attorney. The injured, the participant.

Learning outcomes
The course Criminal Procedural Law 1 is the introductory part of the course of criminal procedure law. During this course, students they will acquire knowledge of the legal regulation of criminal proceedings, in particular the basic principles of criminal proceedings and knowledge of status and activities of individual subjects of criminal proceedings. After completing the course, students will be introduced to the legislation contained in the introductory part of the Code of Criminal Procedure and in other related regulations (such as the Juvenile Justice Act or the Public Prosecutorś Office Act), as well as relevant doctrine and case law. The main attention will be focused on explanation of basic principles of criminal procedural law, on defining the position and powers of the law enforcement authorities and the rights and obligations of other subjects of criminal proceedings, in particular the accused, the defence attorney and the injured.
Students who have completed this subject will gain knowledge of the basic principles of criminal proceedings, the powers of the courts and the rights and obligations of particular procedural subjects in the particular phases of criminal procedure.
Prerequisites
Completion of this subject is not conditional upon completion of another subject.
