Lectures' topics: Politics and political science Theory of political systems Basic types of political systems, classification Political systems in democracies (parliamentary, president's, semi-president's) Political systems in nondemocratic states (totalitarian and authoritarian regimes) Theory of state State and executive power State and legislative power Judicial power Interest and lobbying groups Theory of political parties Elections and theories of electoral systems Decentralization and local government

Learning outcomes
The main objective of the course is to deepen and broaden students' knowledge in the areas of theory of political systems, basic institutions of power (executive, legislative and judicial), lobbying groups, political parties, party systems, elections and electoral systems and local government. The subject innovation has been supported by the project Support of Interdisciplinary studies and Study Programmes Innovations at Palacký University in Olomouc, CZ.1.07/2.2.00/28.0091.
Students who have completed this course gain theoretical knowledge from the political science, which are necessary for completion of other courses from this field.
Prerequisites
The completion of this course is not conditioned upon completion of any other courses.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark

It is essential that those students who would like to get the credit must have attendance within the scope set by the seminar teacher and they also must succeed in the exam. The student is required to work with the learning objects, which have been created for the concrete subject and are available for authorized students in LMS EDIS.
