Course content
Advanced aspects of sports nutrition and nutrition supplements Sports enhancing drugs versus doping Physiology of overtraining Strength training: concepts of training theories Methodology of strength training, timing and periodization Various exercise intervention methods adapted for people with a disability Interpreting assessment findings and methods Exercise testing methodologies as to measure physical activity and exercise participation Methodologies to measure complications during or following sports participation Various exercise intervention methods for people with a disability Adapting physical activities to the individual's needs of the people with disabilities Interpreting assessment findings and methods

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is To provide the students with knowledge on the advanced aspects of exercise physiology, nutrition, principles of training and human performance and their applications to APA practices To give an overview of the effects of studies in the field of Physical Activity Interventions, Nutrition and Human Performance and develop a rationale for such intervention To give a broad overview of a variety of APA applications To make the links between APA-programs, clinical assessment and adaptation of exercise intervention To be able to implement physical activity programs with concern to the specifications of the sports nutrition and nutrition supplements To conceptualise APA-programs, based on clinical assessment and adaptation of exercise intervention to the special needs of people with a disability To skillfully deliver intervention and evaluation methods in APA To develop an empathetic attitude to the needs of people with a disability

Prerequisites
Required: Knowledge of fundaments of general physiology. Recommended: Knowledge of fundaments of execise physiology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written exam

1. Active participation in 80% of lectures and seminars 2. PPT presentation of selected topics 3. 1 page review of selected articles 4. Portfolio with all assignments and worksheets 5. Microteaching in selected activity 6. Final exam
