Course content
Topics to exam: <LI> 1. Qualitative research in pedagogical sciences, difference from quantitative research. <LI> 2. Definition, assumptions, phases of qualitative research. Paradigms of qualitative research. <LI> 3. Methods of qualitative research - data collection methods. Qualitative observation, questioning, interview, group interview, focus group, case study, document analysis, audio-visual analysis. <LI> 4. Methods of qualitative research - methods of analysis of the obtained data. Grounded theory (open, axial, selective coding), interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA), MCA phenomenological analysis, framework analysis, ethnosemantics, etc. <LI> 5. Preparation of a qualitatively oriented research project. <LI> 6. Entering the field, implementing a pilot study and own empirical research. <LI> 7. Research as part of final and diploma theses. Principles of writing qualification theses. <LI> 8. Ethics of research work in qualitative research.

Learning outcomes
This course builds upon the "Qualitative Research 1" subject and focuses on expanding students' research knowledge and competencies in the field of qualitative research, that can be applied both during the preparation of their master's thesis and in their subsequent professional teaching practice.
After completing it, the student should (be able to): <LI> to have mastered the principles and methods of qualitative research; <LI> to create a procedure of qualitatively oriented research; <LI> to prepare a pilot study and design preliminary research; <LI> to carry out qualitative research, including its evaluation, interpretation of results and drawing conclusions for practice; <LI> to create a report on the research carried out; <LI> to choose the optimal approach when processing the empirical part of the diploma the-sis of a qualitative nature; <LI> to describe and characterize the ethics of research work.
Prerequisites
The prerequisite for enrolling in the course is completion of the course Qualitative Research 1.

Requirements for course completion: <LI> A) Creating a research design for qualitative research and its implementation The student chooses a qualitative research problem (ideally as a follow-up to his thesis) and prepares a qualitative research design. Defines the research objective, research questions, chooses an adequate research tool and method of analysis. The individual steps are continuously discussed in seminars and are aimed at developing the student's methodological competences for the preparation and implementation of qualitative research. It will test the implementation of simple research including correct data analysis (e.g. coding), it can be used as a pilot study for research for a diploma thesis. Submission deadline: continuously (no later than the exam date) <LI> B) Attendance at classes. In tolerance 1 absence. <LI> C) Oral examination in the scope of the areas defined by the syllabus.
