Course content
The thematic focus of lectures: First The input information Second Introduction to the History of Education discipline problems Third Discursive transformation of education (definition of man and education in historical paradigms) 3.1 Ancient conception of education (Classical education, tradition of Greek and Roman education) 3.2 The medieval conception of education (Characteristics of the Middle Ages, Christianity and its role in education, the question of medieval scholarship, main instruments of education) 3.3 modern period the concept of education (education in the early modern period - the Renaissance, the Reformation and Anti-reformation education, training under the influence of the Enlightenment - individual education, natural Education) 3.4 The origins of the modern concept of education (education reform, the process of pedautocentrismu to pedocentrismu)

Learning outcomes
Upon completing this subject, students will be able to explain the main historical trends and tendencies in the development of education during individual periods in human history, analyze the relationships between educational concepts and social, political, economic, and cultural processes, and clarify the historical roots of current educational trends. The main topics of this subject are the history of pedagogy as an historically-linked development of theories; the history of pedagogy from the perspective of an evolving "society and education" relationship; historical relationships between pedagogy and the other sciences, significant personalities, and educational theories; and how these relationships are reflected in educational systems of today.
Students will be able to: Characterize the history of pedagogy as a scientific discipline Clarify the ancient world and ancient education as the basis of European education Clarify the medieval conception of education Characterize the different perception of education and learning at the beginning of the early modern period and the period of the Enlightenment Explain how the transition from pedautocentrismu pedocentrismu and its impact in the current education.
