Course content
Gender Studies and Education: Introduction to the basic problems, defining terminology and approaches. The interdisciplinary approach to gender issues. Education as socialization process: biological and cultural determinants of education, gender socialization, gender stereotypes. Social role as a determinant of education. Identity as a problem of gender education. The historical concept and the transformation of education from a gender perspective: socio-cultural constructs of society, medieval discourse, argues, modern discourse. The institutionalization of education: curriculum differential education of girls and boys, sexually homogeneous and heterogeneous classroom. The current issue of gender training: defining the social roles of mass media influences on gender identity formation of contemporary youth. Czech school and the question of gender education. Gender differentiation in the teacher's work.

Learning outcomes
The goal of the subject is to give issues of gender education to undergraduate students of teachers´and non-teachers´ training courses. The specific goals are: to define the concept of gender and to characterize its interdisciplinary approach to explain the role of gender socialization in the educational process, characterized by changes in training, depending on the changing discourse, evaluate and assess the current status of gender education in Czech schools systems and to outline possible solutions and apply methods of gender education in teachers´experiences.
