Course content
|
The course gives an overview of the issues of children's rights, their application in our society and violations of basic forms. 1. Basic concepts of problem. Historical progress of societal attitudes towards children. History and progress of the struggle for children's rights. 2. The basic legislative documents in the field of children's rights. Organizations and institutions engaged in the issue of children's rights. 3. The Convention on the Rights of the Child, its contents. Reaction of the Committee on Children's Rights UN report on the current status and implementation of children's rights in the Czech Republic. 4. Crimes against children - sexual abuse, child pornography and child prostitution. CAN syndrome. 5. Socio-pathological phenomena such as violations of children's rights - alcoholism and other addictions of children and their parents. 6. Alternative family care as a solution to the problem of child abuse in the family. The function of a social-legal protection of children. 7. Socio-pathological phenomena such as violations of children's rights - aggression, bullying, cruelty to children. 8. Socio-pathological phenomena such as violations of children's rights - child labor, child exploitation, slavery, neglect of education. Children in war, child soldiers. 9. Socio-pathological phenomena such as violations of children's rights - discrimination, intolerance, racial intolerance, xenophobia and negative attitudes towards different subjects. 10. Socio-pathological phenomena such as violations of children's rights - radikalism, sectarianism. 11. World issues affecting children, health care, the role of UNICEF and WHO in tackling global problems. Other global issues of children's rights violations.

Learning outcomes
|
Educating towards the ability to apply children's rights meaningfully at school and outside the school. From specific children's rights to natural human rights.
Theoretical knowledge and practical ability of aplication legal rules in fixed law branch.

Knowledge of basic legal institutes of fixed branch.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written exam, Student performance
75% attendance at training, active participation in seminars - evaluation of student activity is part of the final evaluation.
