Course content
Definition of the basic terms intercultural education (multicultural education, global education), intercultural communication; intercultural competencies; intercultural conflict. Intercultural education, aims, methods and forms. The numerical representation of the minorities in the Czech Republic, their characteristics, status and possibilities of integration; relation between majority and minority. Methodology of work with clients from minority groups theoretical approaches, practical experiences, institutions concerned. Implementation of the intercultural education with respect to the aim group. Intercultural education as a topic in other European countries / in the world scale.

Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students should be able to: - Define the term "intercultural education, intercultural training" and other basic terms, - Formulate and justify the aims of the intercultural education, - Use adequate methods and forms for achieving the aims of the intercultural education, - To know and to be able to characterize the activities of institutions dealing with the intercultural education, - To name and characterize several minorities groups living in the Czech Republic, to assess the relation between minority and majority, - To apply theoretical knowledge and general experiences during work with clients originally from a minority group, - To clarify the status of foreigners in the Czech Republic, to know the possibilities and difficulties of their integration in the social life in the Czech Republic, - To describe the current situation of the labour market in relation to the foreigners´ integration, - To prepare, implement and evaluate the educational unit focussing on the intercultural education in respect to the current needs of the specific aim group, - To inspect the implementation of the intercultural education in the Czech Republic in the context of the European and world events.
Students will acquire the competence to understand the intercultural society, to understand and respect the differences between the cultures.
Prerequisites
The prerequisite is completion of the course Didactics or School Didactics.
