Learning outcomes
|
The Proseminar builds on the Introduction to Musicology course and develops the basic practical skills necessary for independent musicological work. Students will become familiar with methods of scholarly research, working with primary and secondary sources, principles of academic writing and citation, and the use of information resources. The aim of the course is to enable students to independently search for, critically evaluate, and process scholarly sources and to present the results of their own work in both written and oral form.
Upon completion of the course, students will be able to independently search for, evaluate, and process scholarly sources and literature, conduct basic bibliographic research, cite scholarly sources correctly, and navigate key information resources and the academic publishing process. They will also be able to prepare and present the results of their own scholarly work in both written and oral form.

Prerequisites
|
The prerequisite for the Proseminar is the successful completion of the Introduction to Musicology course. Students are expected to have a basic knowledge of musicology and to be familiar with the fundamental concepts and knowledge covered in this course.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance, Seminar Work
A minimum of 75% attendance and active participation in classes are required. Students must complete all assigned seminar tasks to the required standard (all sources used in written assignments must be properly cited; assignments will be subject to plagiarism checks).
