Learning outcomes
The course is focused on the means by which musicology gains new findings in its individual subject fields. Student should know the general methodology of science and its specification for individual fields of musicology, be able to use scholarly terminology and to be aware of the discoursive aspect of musicological inquiry.
Students gain in-depth orientation in mains methods of musicological research and ability of their adequate application. Students will gain knowledge in dealing with general categories of philosophical nature.
Prerequisites
Students should be well acquainted with basic theoretical terminology of music, with questions of individual musicological disciplines and history of musicology.

Assessment methods and criteria
Mark

Sufficient and active participation in class (max. of 3 absences), sufficient knowledge of the issues covered in class and in the basic literature, a seminar paper.
