Course content
Model situations in teaching mathematics - motivation, presentation of the new curriculum, consolidation and evaluation of teaching effectiveness in particular school years (i.e. transition from the lower to the upper primary school, work with gifted and talented pupils and pupils with special needs, easing of the transition to high school) based on the experience gained during the student teaching own experience.

Learning outcomes
The course shall provide the students with a possibility to compare the content of and the approaches to teaching mathematics. The current trends in theory and practice of teaching mathematics. The aim is to create a positive relationship of the student teacher with the creative work with children, and with the independent knowledge acquisition, within the framework of the lifelong learning.
In this course of study, the students gain competence to easily deal with the learning environment of the primary school mathematics lessons, to manage pupils' work, to evaluate the training results, and to creatively modify the teaching methods that they apply in mathematics lessons, in compliance with the age, mental, and social needs of their pupils.
Prerequisites
The successful completion of the course is conditioned by the mastery of basic mathematical skills acquired in the MAT1 - MAT4 courses of study and by the ability of the student to apply the aforementioned skills within the context of didactics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral exam, Analyssis of the Student's Portfolio

Active participation in seminars, preparation of a seminar work on the topic related to school mathematics, its presentation in the seminar (in PowerPoint), a review and assessment of a selected textbook/textbook series for the teaching of mathematics at primary schools.
