Course content
History in the Biblical Revelation: the history of Salvation. The concept of the Church history. The Church history between theology and history. A survey of the Church historiography from Antiquity to nowadays (taking account of the specific development of our lands). Historical research method. Auxiliary historical sciences (theoretical basics). The Church archives (Vatican archives and Vatican library, archiepiscopal and episcopal archives in the Czech lands, parish archives, the question of the archival law and its impact on the Church administration.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this subject is to introduce the epistemological statute of the field of the Church history in the frame of historical science as well as theology, basic thematic division of this field and its development.
Students should acquire abilities to use the Church history sources critically and to set them into the context with the use of modern methods.
