Learning outcomes
|
History, methodology, and the relationship between Religious Studies and theology. Scholarly approaches to the study of religious phenomena. An overview of the major world religions. Basic characteristics of contemporary religiosity. The aim of the course is to provide students with a basic understanding of these concepts and areas of study. Building on the knowledge acquired in the course, students will be able to pursue further study independently. The course is divided into two basic thematic blocks: History and Methodology of Religious Studies and Major World Religions.
The student identifies and explains basic approaches and methods used in the study of religious phenomena, applies basic methodological approaches to their interpretation, and works with relevant scholarly sources. The student distinguishes between different approaches to the study of religion, critically evaluates scholarly texts and their interpretations of religious phenomena, and formulates their own conclusions based on scholarly knowledge. The student clearly presents basic knowledge in the field of Religious Studies and uses appropriate academic terminology.
