Course content
The course presents crisis communication strategies that are applied in the exchange of information between responsible authorities, organizations, individuals and groups before, during and after an emergency. The course will define the crisis information strategy from several basic perspectives as an information strategy internal (crisis management units, management and staff of the organization, etc.), external (with the population through the media) and last but not least the dialogue of individuals, groups and organizations involved in the crisis event (medical professionals, injured, families, police officers, bystanders, media representatives, etc.). The emphasis in the training is on understanding the crisis (emergency) event in the context of three dimensions: i) the course of the crisis currently underway; ii) the way in which authorities and organisations deal with the crisis; and iii) the image of the crisis in society. Course structure: 1) Introduction to crisis communication (definition, background, objectives) 2) Theoretical models of CC 3) The Ten Commandments (main principles of CC) 4) Tools, forms and practical procedures 5) Psychological aspects of crisis management 6) Crisis communication with individuals and groups 7) Lessons learned - the Covid-19 pandemic 8) Lessons learned - war in Ukraine 9) Lessons learned - attack of the shooter on the Faculty of Arts of the Charles University 10) Psychosocial assistance and crisis/active communication in the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Republic
