Learning outcomes |
To reflect: - the place of policy advocacy in social work - legitimacy of civic engagement in a democratic state - legitimacy and accountability of social workers engaging in policy advocacy - ethical questions related to policy advocacy, its methods as well as involvement of clients into this process To acquaint students with: - possibilities of affecting the environment of their clients, mainly at the state level; - possibilities and barriers of social workers' engagement in policy advocacy; - the ways of working out as well as realisation of advocacy strategy To support development of: - students' analytical skills; - students' reasoning skills; - team work-related skills; - the skills related to working out sources for policy advocacy aims
After completing the course, students will: - know the basic and the meaning of the policy advocacy in social work; - have the basic knowledge of how to analyse systemic problems; - be able to follow the process of forming and public consultations of draft legal acts and other policy documents; they will know the possibilities to engage in the process; - be able to prepare the basics of the advocacy strategy; they will know the tools of influence and possibilities of its ethical usage as well as defence from manipulation; - know selected policy advocacy tools; - know possibilities, needs and barriers related to engagement of clients into the advocacy process; - improve their reasoning skills. |

Students have basic knowledge regarding civil society and democracy.
