Course content
Subject is focused on tradition and reception of Ancient culture in European Art. 1) Ancient and Czech culture 2) Collecting of ancient art 3) Reception of Greek myths in visual art 4) Metamorphosis of Ovid?s Metamorphoses 5) Hellenistic sculpture as a source of inspiration 6) Tradition of Pantheon in European Architecture 7) The heritage of Roman wall painting 8) The Secrets of Roman Reliefs

Learning outcomes
The aim of this subject is introduction to classical tradition in European art.
Student is informed about tradition and reception of ancient art in European culture, he achieves an ability to recognize characteristic features of Greek and Roman art as an influential source of inspiration.
Prerequisites
Student should be interested in traditions of Ancient culture in European art.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar Work

The course closes with a colloquium of chosen topic.
