TOPICS: " Lexical and contextual input: o LAW AND JUSTCE o LAW AND STATE o SEPARATION OF POWERS - LEGISLATIVE, EXECUTIVE AND JUDICIAL POWERS o PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS - INTRODUCTION; CASE STUDIES o THE EUROPEAN UNION - INTRODUCTION; CASE STUDIES o EU INSTITUTIONS - INTRODUCTION; COURT OF JUSTICE OF EU " Development of language skills: Listening, reading, speaking, writing; practising terminology for specific purposes; " Grammatical and structural practice with respect to legal texts and specific areas of legal communication, in particular: overview of tenses and grammatical structures with emphasis on: tense overview, active and passive voice, gerund, infinitive, modal verbs, conditional sentences, sentence and compound sentences, word order, etc.; " Enhancement of specific skills: use of targeted lexis in meaningful context; " Development of writing and communication skills o Annotations of selected cases (focus on human rights) o Preparation of presentations (Powerpoint; Prezi, etc.) o Enhancement of oral skills (oral presentations with peered approach and recommendations on improvements)

Learning outcomes
|
The subject is aimed at technical terms used in EC and EU, organization, tasks of individual institutions of European Union from the very beginning and this is why students are expected to have at least intermediate knowledge of general language.
Students who have completed this subject will gain knowledge and skills in the field of legal terminology used in different legal contexts with focus on the EU law.

Student performance
It is essential that those students who would like to get the credit must have attendance at these seminars, they have to complete the tasks assigned by the seminar leader and they must be successful at the written test.
