Learning outcomes
Those students who choose this optional subject will improve their knowledge of legal language and the ability to practice their language skills in legal German - both acive and passive. The aim of the lessons is to improve the students' language competency. This will be achieved through working with authentic texts of the European Court of Justice judgments. The method of selective reading as well as text analysis will also be applied. The students will be required to analyse advanced texts trying to look for specific information. They will also be taught how to simplify the contents of legal texts used as a background for the oral presentation of judicial decisions.
Improving the level of competency in legal German - active as well as passive language skills in legal German (the method of selective reading and text analysis - looking for specific information in advanced texts, simplifying the contents of texts, oral presentation). Improving the knowledge of the EU law including the German judicial decisions.
Prerequisites
Very good knowledge of general German (level B2-C1) and basic legal terminology from Legal German

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance

The ability to actively master the topics and the comparison of legal regulations, final presentation of one topic and the comparison of legal regulations, 80% active participation in the lessons.
